When four boards share one garage
Langhus Driftsforening is an umbrella organisation for four separate cooperatives. It is responsible for the garage with over 200 parking spaces, as well as all the common areas.
All residents have access to the same areas, regardless of which cooperative they belong to. That makes cooperation essential, and the solutions have to be equally simple for everyone.
“The main task for the association is managing the garage and how we share the other costs for the common areas. But this is a joint effort and we own it together,” says chair Jack Ski.
Coordinating four boards is a task in itself, which makes it extra important that digital systems don’t add more complexity.
Fobs, remotes and a digital garage opener
Previously, residents used only fobs and remote controls to open the garage. Each apartment had a remote, and new fobs had to be programmed before move-in.
It works, but it requires administration — especially when several people in a household need access. They therefore wanted to give residents another way to open the garage, and acquired digital garage opening.
The remote-opening feature in particular has come in handy.
“It’s obviously very easy when several people in an apartment can have access right on their phone. And being able to open from the apartment is a big advantage,” Jack explains.
For a cooperative with many residents, digital access management means less manual work and a better overview of who has access to the garage.
Digital access management gives oversight

Several people in the association have admin rights, so the responsibility is shared.
It really takes very little time. We have control over who has access, and can grant access for a limited period if needed.
