Parqio Cookie Policy

Effective date: November 16th, 2020

We use cookies on https://parqio.com, the related software applications and services (collectively, “Parqio”). In this cookie policy, you can find information about the types of cookies that we use and the purposes for which we use them. If you do not agree with our use of cookies, please disable your cookies as described in section “How to disable cookies?” Please beware that the full functionality of Parqio may not be available without all cookies.

1. Responsible entity (data controller)

The data controller that is responsible for the processing of your personal data through Parqio is Parqio AS having a registered place of business at StartupLab Oslo, Oslo Science Park, Gaustadalléen 21, 0349 Oslo, Norway (“we”, “us”, and “our”).

2. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file consisting of letters and numbers that is stored on your device (PC, mobile phone, or tablet) and that helps us make your visit to Parqio more meaningful and positive. Cookies, for example, may contain user settings and information about how you have surfed and used Parqio, what browser you are using, what books you have been shown and the corresponding behaviour on websites we partner with. Over time, cookies allow websites to “remember” your actions and preferences.

There are different types of cookies:

  • A session-based cookie is only stored in the working memory of your computer (RAM) and lasts only as long as your browser session. When you close all open browser windows or turn off the computer completely, the session-based cookie will be gone forever.
  • A persistent cookie is stored on your computer's hard drive until a specific date, which may be tomorrow, next week, or next year. Persistent cookies remain on the machine until they either a) expire, b) are overwritten by new cookies, or c) are manually removed by you.
  • Cookies may also be (i) first-party cookies (set by the website itself) and (ii) third-party cookies (placed by third-party websites).

3. What cookies do we use?

We use four types of cookies on Parqio, namely:

  • Technical cookies that are essential to ensure the correct functioning of Parqio;
  • Preference cookies that allow us to remember information that changes the way Parqio behaves or looks to you (e.g., your preferred language or the region that you are in);
  • Statistics cookies that allow us to generate statistical reports about how you use Parqio; and
  • Marketing cookies that allow us to create, implement, and examine our digital marketing campaigns. Such cookies allow us to reach the right customers, analyse the productivity of our marketing campaigns, and offer you personalised advertisement.
  • The table below provides an overview of our cookies, including their purpose and expiration time.

4. How do we use cookies?

We use cookies to simplify the use of Parqio and to provide you with relevant information when you visit Parqio. Cookies are also used to measure the traffic on Parqio, to collect statistics and to improve our services. In addition, we may use third-party cookies to measure and analyse the traffic and use of Parqio, track behaviours to build audiences for marketing purposes, simplify ad management and improve the functionality of Parqio. Cookies allow us to:

  • Recognise your device so that we can customise our service and settings based on your assumed preferences;
  • Use special features such as the ability to continue conversations with our support team;
  • Keep the context as you navigate back and forth on Parqio;
  • Calculate and report the total number of users and traffic;
  • Develop and improve Parqio and understand how it is used;
  • Build segments and audiences for marketing purposes and to target advertising; and
  • Reduce advertising that is irrelevant to certain audiences.

5. Cookie consent

When you visit Parqio for the first time, we may ask you to provide us with your consent to our use of cookies via a cookie consent banner. If you do not provide your consent to our use of all cookies, we may serve you technical cookies only that are strictly necessary to ensure the proper functioning of Parqio. The use of such cookies does not require your consent. Please note that we may not be able to provide you with the best possible user experience if not all cookies are enabled.

6. What about cookies from advertisers and other third parties?

When using Parqio, advertisers and other third parties may place cookies in order to measure and analyse the effects of banner advertising. We have drawn up strict guidelines for how such players can collect and use data about our visitors. The guidelines provide that third parties should not collect data on Parqio to build profiles, interest groups or otherwise track behaviour in order to target ads. Data can only be collected to analyse and measure the impact of advertising, including counting ad impressions, clicks, and conversions. Cookies and other tracking technology may also not be associated with personal data without the specific consent of the user.

7. How do I see which cookies are stored in my browser?

In your browser settings, you will usually find an overview of all cookies stored so that you can get an overview and possibly delete unwanted cookies. The browser normally stores all cookies in a specific folder on your hard disk, so you can also examine the contents in detail. There are also services that have been specially designed to allow users to monitor cookies and other tracking mechanisms. For example, see www.ghostery.com or www.disconnect.me (we are not affiliated with these services and take no responsibility if you click on the links).

8. Other relevant technologies

We can also use web buoys / pixel labels to simplify marketing and use on Parqio. These files come from third parties and traffic providers, and track activity on various websites. The files allow the ad system to recognise cookies or anonymous identifiers on your device to understand which ads to show or which ads have been displayed in the browser. For example, see www.adroll.com (we are not affiliated with this service and take no responsibility if you click on the link).

9. How to disable cookies?

When we ask you to provide your consent to our use of statistics and marketing cookies, you have the freedom not to provide such consent. If you would like to refuse our use of cookies on Parqio, you can do it at any time by declining cookies in your browser or device. Please note that some parts of Parqio may not function properly without cookies and you cannot decline strictly necessary technical cookies.
